The ATO's free apportionment method assumes your value grew in a straight line across your holding period. A market valuation reflects your actual growth curve. Both are accepted for the 2027 transition; they are not equivalent in outcome. Dalio Voss will tell you which case you're in before you engage.
Not every owner does. If your value accrued at a broadly even rate, the free ATO method is sufficient. An independent market valuation is the better path where your growth curve is uneven, slow then accelerated, a step-change acquisition, or earnings that spiked and then plateaued.
A valuation for the 2027 reset is expressed as at 30 June 2027, immediately before the new regime applies. Dalio Voss records the valuation date, the preparation date and the information cut-off separately on every signed report.
Tier 1 is a streamlined desktop valuation, returned instantly. Tier 2 (Standard) is 5 business days, and Tier 3 (Complex) is 10 or a scoped date agreed up front. The clock starts when your information pack is complete, and the countdown is visible in your dashboard from day one.
Every compliance-grade report is reviewed and signed by an independent qualified valuer, prepared under the International Valuation Standards and APES 225. The signature is the point of the product, and it's never designed out.
Business valuation fees vary by an order of magnitude. An accountant's informal estimate typically costs $2,000 to $5,000 but is not independent and not signed. A Big 4 or mid-tier firm valuation typically costs $25,000 to $80,000 and takes six to ten weeks. The ATO's apportionment method is free. Dalio Voss prices by tier, with the fee fixed in writing before the engagement starts.
The desktop valuation is produced instantly from the figures you give us, to tell you whether the question is worth pursuing. A compliance-grade valuation is built from verified financials and reviewed and signed by an independent valuer, and only that final report carries the Dalio Voss seal.
Yes. Your data is stored in Australia. Desktop valuations produced on this site are automated and are not compliance-grade valuations.
